World famous for its diversity, the government has asked UNESCO to declare Mexican cuisine a "Masterpiece of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity." The key to Mexican gastronomy is the vast number of ingredients used, including corn, beans, chili peppers, vegetables and domestic meats; however at times some of the food products can come from Europe as well.
